A Girl and her Dogs

While I was pregnant, we joked that this baby was the third child.  Cole, Kensi, Baby.

We also called "it" the "Mancub".

Ashlyn at 4 Months

4 months.  That's a third of a year.  That's weird.

It's not weird that Ashlyn is bigger or growing or 4 months old.  It's that 4 months is a third of a year. And in October when she's 6 months, we'll go to Yosemite and she'll pick out her first pumpkin.  Then it'll be December and she'll pick out her first Christmas tree.  And then it'll be Valentine's Day, and Easter and her first egg hunt.  And then her birthday, where she'll eat chocolate cake and get it all over herself.  Or maybe we'll give her vanilla cake so we don't have to give her a bath..."doggies! Lick!"..."oh yes, Mommy, that's what we're best at!"

But right now, she's 4 months old.  And little.  And cute.  And smiley.  And still in 3 month old clothes.
.....aaaaaand this month she chose her baseball team!

Ashlyn's First 4th of July

Ashlyn woke up on the Fourth so bubbly and happy! (Meaning of course I had to get a photo of her in her 4th of July outfit before she spit up all over it)!

Thank you Target for your wonderful 75% off holiday clothes right before the holiday!

People keep asking how I get her to smile for the camera. And the truth is, really I don't! She's just so smiley and happy, especially when she wants to lay down and have "happy wiggle time". I just pull out my phone and talk to her and smile. She even laughs (but this picture is about as good of a laugh as I'll get, because when she laughs she tilts her head back and pictures get blurry).

Before going to the Beach House, we dropped the doggies off at "Doggy Camp" aka Mimi and Pappy's because the fence is being re-done at the Beach House so there's no way to keep them in. (So yes, Cole and Kensi were with Mimi and Pappy for fireworks, like they were last year, so we don't even know what they do about them).
They didn't mind hanging out at Mimi and Pappy's because their cousins Samson and Schatzi were there too! But we didn't tell them we were going to the beach...
We got to Cayucos too late for the parade, but just in time for Daddy's and their girls time!
Drew & Aubrey, Tim & Ashlyn, Val & Bella
And the rest of the day presented endless adorable photo opportunities of all the little girls (especially because no one likes to sleep at the Beach House)!

Two babies smiling in one picture???  Seriously?!?!

Bella, Aubrey (pulling hair), Ashlyn, Claira

It was also Ashlyn's first day on the beach!!! It wasn't that nice of weather, so we didn't hang out down there, but we took her down to touch the water for the first time.
She wasn't too happy!

Before people started leaving we got a group picture of everyone there from community group. We're all so sad the Altenhofens are PCSing to Ohio at the beginning of August. :(

Mom and Dad sent this picture to all their friends :)

The highlight of the Fourth (for the men) is not playing in the ocean all day, homemade root beer, homemade ice cream, tri tip, or even Carmel oatmeal bars, but going out in kayaks to watch the fireworks that are shot off the Cayucos pier. This is a "tradition" even though Tim and Drew only did it for the first time last year.

This year, Dad shared his kayak so Jason and Dan were able to go too, and they took hot chocolate and Carmel oatmeal bars to snack on too.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, it was foggy, so we couldn't really see the fireworks! Ashlyn decided she did NOT want to be held, so she lay on the picnic table during the fireworks. The noise didn't bother her either, she must be her Mommy and Daddy and Papa's girl!

The Beginning of Summer

Ashlyn has been really fun this last week, and makes lots of fun faces!
And getting lots of cuddles from Kensi (even though it has been extremely hot)!

My mom came to visit Thursday, and I took this picture right as she was getting here, that's why the doggies are blurry.

Mom, Ashlyn, and I drove up and walked the Bob Jones Trail out to Avila and had a delicious chipotle chicken sandwich.

On Friday, Ashlyn had her 2month visit with Dr Thompson. She was 11lbs7oz (and then in the next 2 days probably pooped out 7oz) and 23inches long. After the doctor visit where she got her first 2 shots, we went and visited Grandma Deane and Pa Ray, where she was a happy wiggle girl!

And Pa Ray have Ashlyn her teddy bear, like all the cousins and I have a teddy bear from Pa too.

Saturday was so hot too, so we went up to visit Mimi and Pappy and to take Ashlyn in the spa.
She loves it!
She wore her cute little watermelon swim suit that is a hand me down from Aubrey.
Ashlyn loved having water squirted on her and smiling at her Daddy!

Kensi likes the spa too...at least this time she didn't jump in!

On Sunday was the Church Shindig up on Orcutt Hill.

We sat around with the Millers and ate tri-tip and watermelon and snow-cones.

Oh and Ashlyn is 9weeks now!

And Monday was pizza & flag football at the park with everyone from community group Bible study. And I finally got a picture of Ashlyn, Bella, and Aubrey together!!!

It (finally) got a little cold at the park, so I wrapped up Ashlyn in her little hoodie and pink blanket to watch her Daddy play fla football.

And little girl must have enjoyed her time with her friends, because she slept all through the night! ...making a "Happy Tuesday"!!!

Ashlyn at 8 weeks

Yep, it's late. And that's okay, because as Ashlyn gets older, she sleeps less and wants me to play with her.

Like this:
(I think something is wrong with her eats though...she likes it when I sing...).

Ashlyn had a big second month of life too, and here's some highlights:

She decided she's a once-a-week pooper. And it's usually Thursdays. Her first blow out was in this cute little ballerina onesie, and it was during dinner and she fussed and Grandma Alice picked her up...and the poop went all over.

At six weeks, I got cleared for all activity by Megan, so we came home and took the BOB out for our first run together. I ran a mile at the park just under 12 minutes, and she slept through the whole thing.

Ashlyn has been around long enough now that Cole has adopted her as part of his pack. I think he took it seriously when Tim told him that while Daddy was in Florida, Cole had to protect Mommy AND mancub.

We started tummy time while we were in Carp. I would put her down on her tummy and she would wake up for a diaper change or feeding. No so now. She takes at least one nap a day on her tummy.

Ashlyn has also started to grow out of her newborn clothes. :( Bye bye, King of the Mountain red polka dot dress picked out by Papa. Bye bye little hand-me-down onesies from Bekah. Bye bye tiny socks. Now I'm trying to get her to wear her remaining fitting newborn outfits as much as possible, including this cute little dress from Mimi.

And because she has outgrown so much stuff, I get to get her a few new things, including this thuggin' hoodie, because the newborn one was way too small, and the 3-6mo ones are way too big, this one's juuuuuuust right!

Grandma Alice and Pa Jack came to visit Ashlyn for the very first time. Here's 4 generations of Tregea women :)

AND the best...she started smiling!!! I love it!

As Ashlyn has started sleeping less and being more aware of her surroundings, she actually likes to look at the elephant toys on her elephant seat (second to the dogs of course, if they're around, she's looking at them)!

With all that activity, she still loves her carseat. She has slept through church every week we have gone, and usually falls asleep in her carseat on the way.

Actually, she'll sleep anywhere, including Pappy's arms while he throws the frisbee and ball for all the doggies!

Happy 2 months, baby girl!  We love you!!!
