Ashlyn at 4 Months

4 months.  That's a third of a year.  That's weird.

It's not weird that Ashlyn is bigger or growing or 4 months old.  It's that 4 months is a third of a year. And in October when she's 6 months, we'll go to Yosemite and she'll pick out her first pumpkin.  Then it'll be December and she'll pick out her first Christmas tree.  And then it'll be Valentine's Day, and Easter and her first egg hunt.  And then her birthday, where she'll eat chocolate cake and get it all over herself.  Or maybe we'll give her vanilla cake so we don't have to give her a bath..."doggies! Lick!"..."oh yes, Mommy, that's what we're best at!"

But right now, she's 4 months old.  And little.  And cute.  And smiley.  And still in 3 month old clothes.  

.....aaaaaand this month she chose her baseball team!

Last month we started calling Ashlyn our little "Adventure Girl", and this month she kept it up.

Ashlyn got to meet my college roomie Reanna when she came out to visit (and had her very first visit to Del's bread rolls pizza).

Auntie Courts also came to visit!!!

We also said goodbye to Stevie as she headed off to college.  :(

Ashlyn needed to pick Adam's nose.  Tradition.

On the way to backpacking, she also got to hang out with her cousins James and Bekah, and Bekah didn't really want her to leave.  :(

Tim gave Ashlyn her first taste of food while Auntie Courts was down visiting...Costco frozen yogurt.  Seriously?

And Gigi and Papa brought up Mommy's cradle that Pa Jack made her, and Ashlyn got to play in it for the first time.

Ashlyn also decided her favorite song is "Slippery Fish".  She laughs and giggles every time we sing it together!

Oh, and, you know, the more detailed things.  Her milestones:

At her 4 month check up, she was 14lbs, 5oz and 24.5inches tall (55th percentile for both).

She holds her head up!  Enough to sit in her Bumbo.

She decided to suck her thumb. I'm not very excited about this, but, she's not obsessive about it.

She's started teething.  Meaning, she gets Tylenol occasionally when she won't quit crying (and her diaper is dry, and she just ate, and she's not tired, and people are paying attention to her already).  She's got two little white marks under her front gums, and every few days they get pretty swollen and she's a little cranky.  Fortunately, she's still sleeping great!

She has started to reach out and touch the dogs, instead of just letting them lick her.  We'll see how this goes.

She's rolled over from her front to her back!  She's not consistent, but she has done it!

She grabs and holds onto EVERYTHING.  She likes to hold only my braid when we walk the dogs.  She grabs onto her cows hanging on her carseat with two hands in a coordinated movement.  She grabs onto her toes when she's laying in her crib or playgym.

She's figured out how to use the jungle bouncer!  She loves it! We're not sure if she just loves the music or she love bouncing, but when Tim or I dance with her to the music, she gets all smiley!
