So this was actually her second time sleeping in a tent. AND, thankfully, it went much better! (Meaning, she could breathe the whole time. Ha).
Tim's Delta 4 Heavy rocket launched Wednesday, so he got Thursday off, so we drove to Daniel and Maria's not as early as we would like, but didn't get there at like 11pm as we are in a habit of doing.
Friday morning Ashlyn got to play with her cousins! James and Bekah told us it was time to do Zumba, and so even Ashlyn participated (with the help of Daddy)!

Friday evening we drove up to Camp Edison and paid our due to get in. We knew exactly how much it was going to cost, thanks to Dan Helms and The Manual.
That evening was filled with doggy time at the beach, setting up tents, eating delicious taco soup prepared by Esther; hearing how The Taco Van broke down and now Cary and Kathy with Samuel, Samantha, and Freddy were now coming in two cars; teasing Katie for arriving waaaaay after "dusk", and figuring out that the pac n' play does not fit in our new tent (thank you, Tim, for being so tall).
Saturday morning dawned, I mean never dawned. Due to smoke from the Rim Fire over in Yosemite National Park. It was freaky. I got out my phone and was doing research, Tim was asking if we should even be out in the smoke, and ashes were falling on our tents. (You'll probably notice a weird, smokey tinge to my photos from Saturday, they're all from my phone so it's probably emphasized).
It made for a rather interesting day at the beach, because it was not hot and sunny making us dying to go in the water as we usually were.
Ashlyn barely had a dip in the lake. Cole was rather curious about it though. "Oh, she goes in the water too?!?!"
So the activity of the day was Spike Ball!
And while Carlene was dominating the guys at Spike Ball, Ashlyn and Aubrey had some social time together! (Actually, when Ashlyn fell asleep, KatieM and I wondered why Aubrey was fussy all the sudden. Turns out she was lonely because she and Ashlyn had been talking to each other!)
Cole and Kensi also got to have some social time with Macy.
And Kensi decided she was a swimming dog still! Dan threw a ball to Macy and I guess Macy didn't see it but Kensi went charging out in the water for it, swam out to it, grabbed it with her mouth, and brought it back. Yep, we're proud of her!!! She continued to be a fetch dog all weekend!
So much of their time was spent in the water that Cole and Kensi got freezing cold. I wondered why Cole was acting so weird and when I got out my towel he ran and "hid" underneath it like after he has a bath.
And they actually got tired. Kensi: "Mom, why you taking our picture? I'm sleeping!"
It actually got so cold and windy at the beach that Ashlyn had on a sweatshirt. But she was happy in her Pac n Play!
And played airplane with Daddy!
It was a little warmer that day, so the guys had some stand up kayaking going on (after jumping off the rock across the lake).
And more Spike Ball.
Carlene brought Aubrey's floaty, which we decided to try Ashlyn in.
She wasn't too big on the lake (it wasn't hot like it was in Tahoe where she loved the lake), but she did enjoy the floaty enough that now we have gone out and bought her one...she loves it so much she almost falls asleep in it!
And then we munched her up all cute in her towel!
The doggies were so tired that night that pretty much all they wanted to do was eat dinner and go to sleep on their bed. We always forget this and think they'll be miserable at the camp site in the evening, when in reality all they want to do is sleep!
Before we all parted ways, we took the traditional group picture!
