hopes.dreams.wishes: Feelings on New Year Resolutions

So I've kind of been into g o a l s lately.

I guess that's what Crossfit does to you.

About a month ago Tim and I set some Crossfit goals, so when New Years rolled around, we didn't feel like we needed to make new goals.  But I hadn't written them down in my "goals journal" (did you know I'm journal-obsessed?) so I went to write them down.

But I didn't know where to start.  Do I start with the big, huge, yearly goals?  Do I write all the small daily life things down?

So I wrote down my two main goals for the year.  BOOM.

And then made a page of
hopes. dreams. wishes.

And it made me feel really good.  Like I wrote down my expectations for the year and every goal I feel like I could think of having.  The big things.  The little things.  The hard things and the easy things.

And from that list (and to help me in reaching my goals), I decided to make quarterly goals.  So I started a page of goals for January 1 to March 31.

This makes things so much more manageable for me!  I can actually remember my goals and feel myself progressing!

The idea for the hopes.dreams.wishes list came from a goal I made (and still failed) in November.  I decided to make a goal of reading the whole New Testament by the end of the year, instead of making the goal to read a piece of it each day.  That way I would not feel like I "failed" if I skipped a day.  Sounds brilliant, but we'll see how it works this year!

Here's to an amazing year in 2 0 1 4.

(and may my hopes.dreams.wishes come true!)

Ashlyn's First Christmas

Saying Ashlyn had her first Christmas is kind of mis-leading.  Ashlyn really had her first...five Christmases!

Jones' Christmas.
Christmas with Papa and Gigi.
Christmas with Daddy and Mommy on Christmas morning.
Christmas with Mimi and Pappy.
Christmas with the Whitakers (meaning the Littles).

Dear Ashlyn 1/9/14

Dear Ashlyn,

You've been such a champ eater lately, today between your lunch and your snack you ate a WHOLE banana!!! And of course, you ate like 10oz of zucchini today. But it's kind of silly when you cry because I can't put food in your mouth fast enough...Mommy is another name for professional food-shoveler-inner.

Today you fell asleep in your playpen surrounded by all your toys while we did the Crossfit Carp WOD...was 3 rounds of 50 back squat and 50 sit ups all that boring? Yep, I thought so...

And just so you know, it's your fault all of my sweatshirts have uneven strings now...and you seem to prefer pulling the left one out long and sucking on your right thumb...

We love you little one!

Xoxo,
Mommy & Daddy
