Ashlyn's First Halloween

Tim and I are not big Halloween people.

I mean, Ashlyn barely made it to the pumpkin patch.

We went Tuesday, and met Mimi and Pappy to pick up our doggies, who had been at Mimi and Pappy's while we were at Yosemite (blog post coming soon!)

But pumpkin patch time happened to be during naptime, so most pictures looked like this:
I'm tired and hungry and I can't sit up by myself

She was happy for the first bit, and sat on a saddle with Mimi and Pappy (that apparently her Daddy used to sit on when he was little).

And Mommy had a turn too, and Ashlyn showed that she's getting ready to sit up by herself!

BIG GIRL!

She wasn't big on sitting with pumpkins so Mommy could take artistic pictures.

Seriously, Mommy?

She would barely sit at the photo location.

But hey, we got a pumpkin.  And she lay in a Radio Flyer wagon just like I had growing up.

So when Thursday came around and we hadn't decided what Ashlyn was going to be (an Ewok or Toto), it didn't bother us.

Or when she was so fussy from teething that we didn't get to the Fall Festival at church.

Instead we watch the Bulls game.  Ashlyn was, of course, fascinated.

Tim had asked us to pick out a big pumpkin at the pumpkin patch so he and Ashlyn could carve it together.  The image he had in his head was a naked baby playing with pumpkin guts.

Instead, she didn't even want to touch it.

And cried when we tried to make her play with it.

So Tim had to carve the pumpkin by himself with our kitchen knives.  Glad he decided not to do that Yosemite-scape pumpkin...

But after she ate her dinner, we think she liked the Jack-O-Lantern smiling for the camera!

And this little girl ended her night with a bath and story time on the bed with Daddy and Cole!
Happy 1st Halloween, Little One!
