Cole & Kensi's Story

Cole and Kensi's story starts a bit ago in a town not so far away, when we still lived in a tiny condo in Nipomo!  We were volunteer youth leaders, and headed out for a "Meet the Leaders" dinner where parents of youth group students could come meet their leaders.  We played a mixer game where one of the topics (according to the color of M&M you drew out of a cup) to talk about what your children, since we were just recently married, when Tim pulled that color out of the cup, he said we had no kids yet, but wanted to get a dog around Christmas (it being September still), but we hadn't decided on what kind (meaning we didn't agree, him wanting a black Labrador and me wanting a Rhodesian ridgeback).  One of the parents, Paul, said, "we have month old boxer puppies at home.  Come see them, they're rare sealed brindle boxers, meaning they're black."  I didn't know what that meant but I knew I wanted to go see some puppies! We went over to the Master's that evening.  And this is what happened:
A fat little puppy fell asleep in my arms.  Tim knew he was in trouble.

Why I Hate the Hospital

Okay, I'm not sure I HATE the hospital, but there are many things that make me very unexcited to end up there at the end of my pregnancy! Hospital food, dry yellow jello, hospital gowns, complex patterned curtains, and IVs of course.  These are some of the things that bothered me as an 11 year old in the hospital.

The day after my 11th birthday, we found out I had an acoustic neuroma, which is a benign tumor that grows on the balance nerve, and mine had grown to touching my hearing nerve, which gave me hearing loss.  (To read more about acoustic neuroma, visit the House Ear Clinic website).  Needless to say, this discovery made my 11th birthday OFFICIALLY the worst birthday ever.

Introducing our Little Raspberry

Yup.  Surprise.  WOOHOO!  We're gonna have a baby!

It happened sooner than we expected, but WE ARE SO BLESSED!!! And excited.  And glad our dogs like babies :) We didn't think I was pregnant at first, and then I got just cramps, but a few days later I realized I had cramps but a complete and total aversion to chocolate, which, as Reanna could tell you IS NOT NORMAL!!!

So three positive tests, more food aversions, and some nausea brings us to now:

  • Week:  7weeks, 6 days
  • ETA:  April 21, 2013
  • Size:  raspberry (1/2")
  • Best part so far:  realizing that the other day I think I had a stomach bug and I won't be feeling that horrible for the next 4 to 7 weeks!
  • Hardest part so far:  going camping last weekend and looking like I was lazy and didn't want to help with food.  At least everyone knows Carlene is pregnant.  And then the boys all left me on the beach with 5 dogs.  Really?

At this point, I think it's a boy.  Why?  Because the night before we found out, we went to Yogurt Creations and I had this feeling I HAD to pick blue spoons for both Tim and I, when usually I give him blue and me pink...unless I'm thinking of the Lakers and we both get purple:)

We haven't told anyone, except the Miller's because we see them like every day and Drew has been trying to call us out since...since they found out they were having #2.  And I've had to tell some of the physical therapists I work for, because old lady perfumes (and people with metabolic disorders) SMELL.  So...since no one knows about this blog yet, it's our secret :)
