At Papa and Gigi's

Ashlyn had her first vacation over Memorial Day!!!  Tim and I had said we wanted to take her somewhere before we started traveling for the summer so we would know how she traveled in the car and how she slept in a new place with her routine different.  She did great!

While we were there, Mom & Dad hosted a "Baby Party" for their friends to come meet Ashlyn.  I made these yummy cupcakes and everyone loved them!
The chocolate ones are yellow cake with pudding in the middle with chocolate buttercream frosting, a la Boston Creme Pie.  The Oreo ones are, well, Oreo, with Oreos in the cake and Oreos smushed on top of the buttercream frosting.

Ashlyn wore her whale dress for the first time for her party.  How cute is that?!?!

Because it was Memorial Day weekend, we took Ashlyn to REI for the first time we went up to I Madonnari at the SB Mission to see the chalk painting.

My favorite chalk painting this year
Unfortunately half way through making our bleu cheese burgers on Monday night, we realized Tim needed TWO forms of gov't IDs for his badge at the Cape, so we had to go home to get one before taking him to the airport early Tuesday morning.  Papa was sad Ashlyn was leaving.

Ashlyn was probably the only one NOT bothered by the lack of sleep we got that night.  Get home, 11pm, leave for airport, 4am, with a feeding in there sometime too!  Maybe I made my day better by spending a portion of it at Target.  :)

Ashlyn and I actually DID stay home for a night while Tim was gone.  We had our sliding glass door in our room replaced, so I was here for that.  Then I decided to go back to Mom and Dad's because I'd rather hang out with people in the evening than sit by myself.  Besides, I think Cole and Kensi like especially Dad and JJ.  :)
Banana?!?!
Tim's favorite picture I sent him while he was gone
Being back at my parents on Wednesday meant Mom was still working, so Ashlyn and I went on a walk by ourselves.  Not only was I glad to be there to be around people, you can't argue with the beauty of a walk on the bluffs!!!  SO much better than sidewalk.

Another plus of staying in Carp was being able to take the doggies to Santa Claus Lane beach almost every morning to play.
They actually decided they are fetching dogs!!!

And Ashlyn decided that she was social and would start crying if we left her in her elephant seat all lonesome for too long!

She also decided she could smile!!!

And since Daddy was gone, she got extra Mommy cuddles, sometimes after her early morning feeding.

She wore her king of the mountains dress with her "23" Jumpman booties to church. Because they match. And her Daddy likes them. Haters gonna hate.

Mid-week, Mom and I came back to check on my house and my vegetable garden (we had put in a drip system and timer just so we could leave for Memorial Day weekend). We also visited Grandma Deane and Pa Ray!

Ashlyn decided to be happy wiggle girl for them...after she peed in the only onesie I had for her (because all the rest were dirty...it's hard when most newborn stuff is too small and 3mo stuff is too big...you can only have so many Old Navy 0-3mo onesies!)

Because I was sick of picking up an icky, sandy tennis ball, (and the dogs decided they fetch), I went out and bought them a Chuk-It. Best decision ever.

And do you know how hard I worked to get this picture?!?!?

Ashlyn got all fancy dressed up in her ballerina onesie to meet Grandma Alice and Pa Jack for the first time! (Oh, and then proceeded to blow out her diaper for the very first time...all over Grandma!)
We took the doggies to the beach with Grandma Alice and Pa Jack, and Pa even played fetch with Cole and Kensi!

After the beach, the doggies got (kind of) tired, and found a new perch in Mom and Dad's backyard.
Ashlyn got some sweet Carpinterian visitors too...Jaime and her mom came and visited.  It must have been purple day!

See, everyone had on purple that day!  #notplanned

Ashlyn decided she thinks tummy time is okay, in fact, she stopped waking up when I would put her on her tummy for a wake up before a diaper change! But it does make for a cute picture!
And of course Cole decided to join us on the bed...
FINALLY, Tim got home. A day later than we thought, and yes it was due to weather, but not flying weather, but rocket-work-delaying-lightning weather. All that to say Saturday morning we all went out to brunch at Easu's Cafe in Carp. Best eggs ever...hot links, bell peppers, onion. Yum!

And then, we went home.
