Saturday was Doggy Bath Day. They needed a bath SO bad! We like to be as kind as we can and give them one when it's warm, so they had escaped one last weekend.
Tim washes and I dry.
When they get water on their face, they let it run down and lick it up.
We use Pert Plus as the shampoo, it actually works great and keeps them smelling fresh for a long time. When they get damp later, they smell like Pert instead of wet dog.
Cole has environmental allergies and has been itching his ears, so I picked up some Spectrum V from Lemos. It's a shampoo thats supposed to help itching from allergies.
Usually Kensi (who always goes second), hides on the patio with that look of "oh no, I'm next" on her face, but this time she chose to come sniff Cole as he was being scrubbed.
They usually don't mind being scrubbed, it like intense scratches everywhere.
They don't like being rinsed off.
Especially in the face!
After they're rinse, Tim lets them go and the run around all frisky, shaking water off. For Cole, I hold up the towel, and he runs underneath it so he can be dried off, and then lets me dry him before he scampers off (and wants me to come play ball with him).
Kensi gets a bath second, it seems to just work better that way. Otherwise she's in the way trying to get Cole to play with her during his bath.
We try not to get soap in their faces, but sometimes it happens. Mostly I use the damp towel from drying them off to clean their faces off (especially the little wrinkles on Kensi's nose) and they don't seem to mind having their faces rubbed.
Kensi likes the ocean more than Cole and will swim, but she doesn't like the bath so Tim has to hold on tight to her.
When they are getting rinsed, they ALWAYS stand on 3 feet. Like it makes them warmer.
Here's floppy-face Kensi shaking off after her bath.
The doggies always seem to go crazy after their bath. Here, Kensi is wagging and jumping and wiggling so she's in her "macaroni" shape with her tongue out.
Kensi likes being dried off too, but sometimes we have to force her because she's too excited to go play with Cole.
Cole waits patiently inside while Kensi has her bath.
"Please can we play now, Mommy?"
They run around the house....
And outside...
And anywhere in the sun.
We usually give them a treat after bath. This time they go little pieces of string cheese.
We love cuddling with the doggies when they're clean! After they're dry they're so soft and smell so good!
